Of course you have heard of MIT’s media lab but the reason I am posting this is just two words that the lab’s new director said  in this video: “social enterpreneurs”. That’s right, many students out there with the new technology and global networking are thinking out the box and promoting enterpreneurship at this (and of course the traditional) level can have a dramatic impact in our lives in the future.

An excellent article from a former executive, turned bishop and now having been elected the Archbishop of the Church of England. Read it here, its worth it. Here is a nice excerpt in favor of less complex regulation: “…the more complex one makes the regulation, the less likely it is to be adhered to. The head of a major bank whom I interviewed recently told me they had 3,500 compliance staff and 900 lawyers. Good luck with that!”.  There are other points well made in the article. The source is Bloomberg.

Maybe you have already heard and read about the claims that various hedge funds have against Argentina, after its default, including the recent attempt to seize an Argentine Navy ship!!! Read more on this article from Bloomberg. Well, it may have been as well that Greece has not defaulted, who knows what they would be asking in terms of assets – I mean besides what its already gone; maybe the Acropolis?!

Have a look at this articles, I found the first referenced in Bloomberg. They are for the US but have value added if you are out there looking for work. The first article is about the 10 best college careers while the second one is for the 10 worst ones. Please read them carefully to understand the data and assumptions on which their conclusions are based.

This is from Bloomberg. A very well regarded colleague talks about output targeting instead of inflation targeting for monetary policy. The intereview is from the latest AEA meetings and is a must read!
